Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, Dr Gabriel Pidomson, has vowed to resist any attempt to rig him out of the 2027 election, warning those planning electoral fraud to shelve their schemes.
Pidomson spoke during the inauguration of the party’s 2027 governorship campaign council in Port Harcourt, where he urged members to take the ADC’s message to every community and household across the state.
Acknowledging alleged plans for electoral manipulation, he told party faithful that the ADC was prepared to confront any challenge.
“We are prepared to meet every challenge. We shall meet each new challenge with the same aggressive attitude,” he said, insisting that “no one will be allowed to rig the election”.
Chairman of the campaign council, Senator Andrew Uchendu, said the appointment was a sacred trust, recalling that Rivers State’s creation was achieved through struggle, patriotism and selflessness.
“This great state was not given; it was fought for,” he said, questioning whether the aspirations of its founding campaigners had been fulfilled.
Uchendu accused a handful of political actors of turning the state into a battleground for supremacy, with critical sectors suffering as a result.
He said the ADC was determined to rescue the state and put it on the path of progress.
The former senator urged Rivers residents, irrespective of their ethnic or political affiliations, to support Pidomson in 2027, promising better governance, job creation and the empowerment of women and youths.
