The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, yesterday presented cheques totalling ₦89,201,523.07 to the families and next-of-kin of 157 deceased police officers who served under the Command.

Fatai said the financial assistance was aimed at providing relief to the families of the deceased officers and ensuring that their sacrifices were not forgotten.
He said, “Although the financial support cannot replace the lives of the deceased officers, it is a demonstration of the Force’s resolve to honour their sacrifices and ensure that their families are not abandoned.”
Fatai sympathised with the beneficiaries and urged them to make judicious use of the funds, particularly towards the welfare and education of the children and other dependants left behind by the deceased personnel.
Fatai also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to facilitating the prompt processing and payment of legitimate welfare and insurance claims due to families of deceased officers.
The Police Commissioner He assured serving personnel that the welfare of officers and their families remained a priority of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.
According to him, “While no financial provision can replace a loved one, the gesture will provide some relief to the affected families and reinforce the assurance that the sacrifices of fallen officers have not been forgotten.”
The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to see the intervention as part of the Force’s commitment to supporting families of officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
