President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned attacks on Saudi Arabia by Houthi militia from Yemen and conveyed Nigeria’s condolences to the Saudi government and people over the loss of lives and destruction of infrastructure.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, disclosed this when he received the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, in his office during the week.
According to the minister, Tinubu, in a letter delivered to the ambassador, strongly condemned the attacks and commiserated with Saudi Arabia’s Prime Minister and Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, as well as the government and people of the country.
The president expressed sympathy over the attacks, which the letter said had claimed lives and destroyed physical infrastructure and critical installations.
Delivering the letter, Enikanolaiye stressed that peace remained the only viable path forward and urged people in the region to shun violence.
In his response, Al-Balawi expressed appreciation to Tinubu for his message of solidarity and consolation, as well as Nigeria’s strong condemnation of attacks against legitimate governments.
The ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to promoting regional and international peace and security.
The Special Adviser on Media and Strategic Communications to the minister, Richard Elesho, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday.
