The Kwara State Publicity Secretary of the Accord Party, Olamilekan Esinrogunjo, has said the party is attracting increasing numbers of members and supporters from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Esinrogunjo attributed the growing interest in the party to the appearance of its presidential candidate, Dr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, on the candidate portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin, the party spokesman said the development had renewed interest in Accord among political stakeholders and supporters across Kwara State.

According to him, the confirmation of Hashim’s name on the INEC portal has boosted the party’s visibility and strengthened its position as an alternative for voters dissatisfied with the established political parties.

He identified economic hardship, insecurity, dissatisfaction with governance and renewed attention to Hashim’s presidential ambition as factors contributing to the growing interest in the party.

Esinrogunjo maintained that Accord was receiving support from individuals across different political affiliations, particularly APC and PDP members seeking what he described as a more credible political alternative.

He added that the movement towards the party was not restricted to political elites, noting that its message on economic revival, security reform and accountable governance was also attracting interest at the grassroots.

The spokesman said the party intended to capitalise on the development by strengthening its grassroots structures and expanding its engagement with communities across the state.

He explained that Hashim’s appearance on the INEC portal had provided a fresh focus for the party’s mobilisation efforts, giving supporters greater clarity about its presidential candidacy as preparations for the 2027 elections continued.

Esinrogunjo, however, stressed that the party’s ambition went beyond attracting defectors, saying it was focused on building lasting public confidence through its policy proposals, candidates and engagement with voters.

He urged Nigerians dissatisfied with the country’s current direction to examine Accord’s programmes and the agenda being advanced by its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
