Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has strengthened the operational capacity of the Ministry of Youths and Sports with the presentation of a 32-seater Coaster bus to support the ministry’s activities across the state.
The vehicle, presented to the ministry on Monday, is expected to ease transportation challenges and improve the ministry’s ability to coordinate youth and sporting programmes, officials said.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Comrade Prince Miaphen, who received the bus on behalf of the ministry, disclosed that he personally requested the vehicle shortly after assuming office.
Miaphen said the request was driven by the need to provide the ministry with the logistical capacity required to effectively carry out its responsibilities, particularly in coordinating activities involving young people and athletes across Plateau.
“Upon assuming office a few weeks ago, I personally requested the bus to enhance the operational capacity of the ministry and enable us to discharge our responsibilities more effectively,” the commissioner said.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Mutfwang for approving the request, describing the intervention as timely support for a ministry whose programmes often require officials, athletes and youth groups to travel within and outside the state.
Miaphen said the governor’s decision demonstrated his administration’s commitment to strengthening government institutions and equipping them to deliver more effectively.
According to him, improved logistics would enable the ministry to respond more efficiently to its responsibilities and support the development of youth and sports in the state.
The commissioner assured the governor that the vehicle would be put to proper use and deployed strictly towards advancing the ministry’s mandate.
“We appreciate the governor for this support and assure him that the vehicle will be deployed towards achieving our mandate and advancing youth and sports development in Plateau State.”
The intervention comes as the ministry continues to coordinate programmes and activities requiring the movement of officials, athletes and youth groups, with transportation often critical to participation in sporting competitions, youth engagements and other state programmes.
Miaphen said the ministry would continue to work with the state government to create an environment capable of unlocking the potential of Plateau youths while strengthening the state’s sporting development.
