The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has shut several shops and business premises at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex over suspected distribution of unregistered cosmetic products.
In a statement on its X handle, NAFDAC said the enforcement action was carried out by its Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Cosmetics Division, during a two-day operation on August 26 and 27, 2026.
The operation was aimed at removing specified suspected unregistered cosmetic products from circulation.
NAFDAC said the affected premises were locked and placed under NAFDAC HOLD labels pending further regulatory action.
Among the premises affected were Vincentmo World, opposite Bmeck Plaza, Private Plaza; Amazon City of Fragrance, Shops 37 and 38, Beauty Promise Land Plaza; and Aza-King Store Perfumes, opposite Fidelity Bank, all within the Trade Fair Complex.
Others include PP2 & Fragrance Int’l Ltd. – Design Perfumes & Cosmetics; No. D12 Fragrance Doctor Shop, Abia Plaza; and God & Obaino Fragrance Store, opposite Wave Plaza, as well as other identified shops and business premises within the complex.
The agency said samples of the suspected unregistered cosmetic products were taken for further investigation, while invitation letters were issued to the owners and operators for interrogation and necessary regulatory proceedings.
NAFDAC said the enforcement action was part of its efforts to ensure that cosmetic products sold to Nigerians meet regulatory requirements and are duly registered before being placed on the market.
The agency warned that unregistered cosmetics could pose health risks to consumers because their safety, quality and composition may not have been verified by the regulator.
It urged traders to desist from stocking or selling unregistered cosmetic products and advised consumers to check the registration status of cosmetics before purchase.
NAFDAC said further regulatory action would be taken based on the outcome of its investigation.
