A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is attracting politicians from nearly all opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general election.

Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, expressed confidence that the growing political realignments would boost Tinubu’s chances of winning a second term.

He cited the involvement of politicians associated with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party as evidence of support for the President beyond the ruling APC.

Speaking at the inauguration of the campaign council, Kwankwaso described the gathering as a sign of growing political support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“To me, the inauguration of the Campaign Council is like a congregation celebrating the re-election of President Tinubu back to office,” he said.

The APC chieftain said the political alignment was significant because it brought together politicians who had previously disagreed on political issues.

“It has never happened in Nigeria’s political history that one man could attract nearly all opposition parties, not only opposition politicians, but people who have never agreed to sit together yet, because of Tinubu, they have accepted to come on board and pursue a common goal,” he said.

Kwankwaso also defended Tinubu’s economic policies, arguing that the President should be given another opportunity to continue his reforms despite the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians.

He referenced comments by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, and other political figures, arguing that their views reflected an appreciation of the challenges facing Nigeria and the global economy.

According to him, the 2027 presidential election should be viewed not merely as a contest for political power but as a decision that would shape the country’s economic direction.

Kwankwaso further expressed optimism that the political cooperation emerging at the national level would extend to Kano State.

He said prominent political figures in the state would work together to support Tinubu’s re-election, as well as the second-term ambitions of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo.
