The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has vowed to sustain its political campaigns and nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that its leadership crisis will neither derail its mission nor silence its message to Nigerians.
The council declared that its political machinery would remain active despite the November 5 judgment of the Federal High Court on the party’s leadership dispute, adding that it would pursue all lawful means to protect its leadership structure.
In a press statement issued on Friday by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, the council disclosed that it had filed an appeal against the judgment involving Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe and the party.
It also confirmed that an application for a stay of execution had been filed, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was formally notified of the appeal and the application on November 6.
The council urged INEC to exercise restraint and avoid taking any consequential action on the party’s leadership pending the determination of the legal challenge.
Addressing party members, supporters and Nigerians, Shaibu appealed for calm and urged them not to lose faith in the party’s political project.
“To our members, supporters and Nigerians who believe in democracy: remain calm, steadfast and confident. This is not the end of the road. The ADC is taking every lawful step to defend its rights, and we will not be intimidated or distracted from that responsibility,” he said.
In a strong message of defiance, the campaign council maintained that the leadership dispute would not disrupt its political activities, nationwide mobilisation or engagement with Nigerians.
“Our campaigns continue without interruption. There is no stopping the affordability train or our mission to make life better for Nigerians. We will keep taking our message to the people as we pursue every lawful avenue to defend our rights,” Shaibu stated.
The council further expressed confidence that the dispute would receive a full hearing, insisting that the party remained committed to defending its interests through constitutional and legal channels.
It maintained that the ongoing court battle would not distract it from its preparations for the 2027 elections or its efforts to sell its political message to Nigerians.
