Nigerians living outside the country have been urged to assist eligible voters in Nigeria as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made on Saturday by Obidient Connect, a group campaigning for the presidential bid of Peter Obi, through a post on X.
The group said although Nigerians in the diaspora could not directly participate in the election, they could contribute by helping people in Nigeria get the opportunity to vote.
It specifically encouraged each person living abroad to assist at least 10 people to participate in the electoral process.
The group said the support could extend to more people, depending on the capacity of those willing to contribute.
According to Obidient Connect, Nigerians in the diaspora had seen how effective governance operates in other countries and could use that experience to encourage greater civic participation at home.
“Even though you may not be able to vote directly, you can still support someone back home to participate in the election,” the group said.
It added, “You can support at least 10 people to exercise their civic responsibility and you can even do more.”
The group further called on Nigerians abroad to identify with Obidient Connect as part of efforts to encourage participation in the 2027 election.
“Let’s support civic participation and work towards a better Nigeria in 2027. Nigeria must be OK,” it said.
