Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate for Plateau Central, Chief David Bitrus Barji, have begun moves to reconcile party members and strengthen the APC’s structures across the state.
The two political leaders, in separate engagements on Tuesday, met with candidates, former aspirants and other stakeholders, urging them to set aside differences arising from the party’s recent primaries and unite for the success of the party at the general elections.
Mutfwang held a strategic meeting with APC candidates and aspirants who participated in the party’s recent primaries at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
The meeting provided an avenue for dialogue and consultation on strengthening cohesion among candidates, aspirants, party leaders and other stakeholders following the conclusion of the primaries.
Mutfwang urged party members to put aside individual differences, deepen collaboration and work towards strengthening the APC’s structures and support base across Plateau State.
He stressed the need for mutual respect, inclusiveness and shared responsibility, urging stakeholders to place the collective interest of the party and the people above individual ambitions.
According to him, the post-primary period should be used to promote reconciliation and cooperation among members and build a stronger organisation capable of mobilising support across the state ahead of 2027.
In a related development, Barji held a strategic engagement with former aspirants who contested the APC’s State and National Assembly primaries across the five local government areas of Plateau Central Senatorial District.
The meeting focused on reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and coordination of political structures ahead of the elections.
Barji commended the aspirants for their contributions to the party and urged them to deploy their respective support bases and grassroots structures towards the collective campaign.
He said the conclusion of the primaries should mark the beginning of concerted efforts to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
Barji said: “The strength of our party in Plateau Central lies in our ability to work together despite the differences that may have arisen during the primaries.”
He urged the former aspirants to take active roles in the campaign across their local government areas, wards and communities, stressing the importance of sustained grassroots mobilisation and engagement with stakeholders.
The aspirants pledged their support for the APC candidates and expressed readiness to work together towards the success of the party in the 2027 elections.
Barji described his senatorial campaign as a collective project aimed at providing effective representation for the people of Plateau Central, urging stakeholders to contribute their experience, networks and political structures to the campaign.
