Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the National Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, has charged party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to take the party’s message of good governance, justice and people-centred leadership to communities across the country.

Zuwoghe also stressed the need for unity, discipline, effective coordination and collective responsibility, declaring that the party’s strength would depend largely on the effectiveness of its grassroots structures.

The NDC chairman gave the charge during a strategic meeting with the party’s leadership in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, which brought together members of the LGA Executive Committee and Ward Executive Committees across the 17 wards.

The meeting, held at the Headquarters Secretariat Complex of His Will Political Family Worldwide in Yenagoa, focused on strengthening the party’s internal structures, deepening grassroots mobilisation and developing strategies for the 2027 general elections.

According to Zuwoghe, every ward must remain active, organised and committed to the party’s objectives if the NDC is to build a coordinated political structure across Southern Ijaw and Bayelsa State.

He said the engagement also provided an opportunity to assess the party’s organisational readiness and reinforce cooperation among its various leadership structures.

The meeting was attended by four House of Assembly aspirants, including Hon. Ogede Parkins Embeleakpo, Hon. Ifiemi Collins Embiowei, Hon. Ziriki Ayebamiebi Godwill and Hon. Alfred Perekere Salvation.

Also, in attendance was the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Hon. Leghemo Abaye Diepreye.

Zuwoghe said the participation of the candidates and grassroots leaders was part of efforts to build a stronger and more coordinated party ahead of the next general elections.

He emphasised that the responsibility of taking the party’s message to the people rested on all members and stakeholders, urging them to ensure that its vision resonated across communities.

“I emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, effective coordination and collective responsibility. Our strength as a political party lies in our grassroots structures, and every ward must be active, organised and committed to the task ahead,” he said.

The NDC chairman further urged party leaders and stakeholders to take the party’s message to every community, ensuring that its positions on governance, justice and people-centred leadership were communicated to residents.

“I charged all party leaders and stakeholders to take the message of the NDC to every community, ensuring that our party’s vision of good governance, justice and people-centred leadership resonates with our people,” Zuwoghe stated.

He said the journey towards 2027 would require commitment, sacrifice and teamwork, adding that sustained cooperation among party members would be essential to strengthening its organisational structures.

“The journey to 2027 requires commitment, sacrifice and teamwork. Together, we shall build a formidable political structure in Southern Ijaw and across Bayelsa State.

“Our strength is in our unity. Our victory is in our collective commitment,” he added.

The meeting forms part of the NDC’s ongoing engagements with its grassroots leadership as political parties begin preparations and organisational activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
