President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a high-level security meeting with the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.), in Lagos, with the ongoing counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations across the country taking centre stage.

The meeting, held at the Presidential Residence in Lagos, focused on reviewing the nation’s defence framework, assessing the progress of military operations and strengthening inter-agency security coordination.

A statement by the Ministry of Defence, yesterday, said the engagement was part of the President’s continuing security briefings and policy consultations with key government officials.

According to the statement, Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded in efforts to secure vulnerable communities and reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support to the defence establishment.

The President said the Federal Government would continue to back the military and other security agencies in their efforts to restore and sustain peace across the country.

During the meeting, the Defence Minister briefed the President on ongoing defence initiatives, operational logistics at the frontline and proposed reforms designed to improve troop morale, modernise military hardware and strengthen infrastructure across the country.

General Musa also updated the President on efforts to enhance the capacity of the Armed Forces to respond effectively to emerging security threats.

The Defence Minister thanked Tinubu for what he described as his continued guidance and support for the nation’s security architecture.

He assured Nigerians that the Ministry of Defence remained committed to fulfilling its mandate with “firm resolve and integrity.”

The meeting comes amid the Federal Government’s renewed focus on strengthening security operations and improving coordination among agencies involved in combating terrorism, insurgency, banditry and other threats to national security.

The Ministry said the engagement was aimed at ensuring that decisions arising from security assessments translate into swift and decisive action nationwide.
