The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, has raised the alarm over fraudulent recruitment advertisements and forged appointment letters being circulated by scammers to deceive unsuspecting job seekers.
The Fund, in a public notice issued to Nigerians, said it was not currently recruiting for any position and urged members of the public to disregard employment offers being circulated, particularly on Facebook and other unofficial social media platforms.
The warning was contained in a memorandum dated October 5, 2026, signed by Samaila Abdu, Executive Director, Administration, and circulated to the Fund’s regional and branch managers.
NSITF said the fraudulent advertisements were part of a growing trend in which individuals and groups falsely claimed to represent the organisation and offered members of the public purported employment opportunities.
The Fund warned job seekers against making payments or providing personal information to anyone in connection with such advertisements.
According to the notice, NSITF does not charge fees for employment and does not conduct recruitment through unofficial social media platforms or other unauthorised channels.
It said genuine recruitment exercises, whenever conducted, would be announced through the Fund’s official communication channels.
“Stay alert, stay safe,” the Fund urged members of the public, advising anyone who encounters suspicious recruitment advertisements or requests to avoid responding and report them to the appropriate NSITF authorities.
As part of measures to protect job seekers and safeguard the integrity of its recruitment process, the management directed all regional and branch managers to prominently display the warning notice at strategic locations within their offices.
The directive covers reception areas, main entrances and exits, notice boards, SERVICOM desks and other conspicuous areas accessible to staff and members of the public.
The Fund directed that the notice be displayed immediately and kept visible to ensure that members of the public are adequately informed about the fake recruitment activities.
NSITF urged Nigerians, particularly job seekers, to verify all recruitment claims through its official communication channels before taking any action.
The warning comes amid concerns over fraudulent online recruitment schemes targeting unemployed Nigerians with promises of government jobs in exchange for money or personal information.
The Fund reiterated that legitimate NSITF recruitment would not require applicants to pay individuals, agents or unofficial intermediaries for employment.
