Police also recovered three locally fabricated firearms and five live cartridges following the suspect’s arrest and interrogation by detectives of the State Violent Crime Response Unit.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, said the incident was reported at the Kaduna Vom Police Division on October 20, 2026.
According to him, the suspect allegedly shot his wife in the left side of her chest with a locally fabricated firearm at their residence on October 18, at about 9am.
Alabo said the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer to mobilise personnel to the scene following receipt of the report.

The police spokesman disclosed that further interrogation of the suspect led detectives to additional weapons.
“Further interrogation of the suspect by crack detectives of the State Violent Crime Response Unit led to the detection and recovery of additional weapons from the suspect, making a total of three locally fabricated firearms and five cartridges,” Alabo stated.
He said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, adding that the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that anyone found culpable of violent crimes was brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Faniyan urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities and criminal incidents to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
