Abia State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, has presented 21 cheques totalling N17,662,896.70 to families of deceased and affected police officers under the Nigeria Police Force Insurance Scheme.

The cheques were presented to beneficiaries of the Group Life Assurance (GLA) and Group Personal Accident (GPA) schemes as part of efforts to support officers and their families following death or injury in the line of duty.

Speaking during the presentation, Afolabi said the gesture demonstrated the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, to the welfare of police personnel and their families.

According to him, the initiative was particularly important for families of officers who had paid the ultimate price or suffered losses in the course of their service to the nation.

“This gesture reflects the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to the welfare of officers and their families, particularly those who paid the ultimate price or suffered losses in the line of duty,” he said.

The CP urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, advising them to consider investing in or expanding existing businesses to secure their financial future.

“The IGP urges the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the funds, especially by investing in and expanding their businesses to secure their future,” Afolabi said.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the recipients expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the welfare initiative and support.

They assured the police authorities that the funds would be judiciously utilised, while praying for the continued success of the Nigeria Police Force and its leadership.
