There is a familiar Lagos experience: a stressful week, endless traffic, unanswered messages and the pressure of getting through another working day. Then comes a song that changes the mood, gets everyone moving and reminds people that life should not be all work and worries.

That is the feeling behind Let It Go, the latest collaboration between Afrobeats artiste and producer Young Jonn and Desperados.

With its infectious rhythm, Latin-inspired influences and relatable lyrics, the track is built around a simple message: sometimes, people need to put their worries aside and enjoy the moment.

“Free all my worries and let it go, pass me the cup and let me feel good,” Young Jonn sings in the chorus, setting the tone for a song that celebrates relaxation, friendship and spontaneous enjoyment.

The collaboration samples Guao Guao by Venezuelan artiste Micro TDH and Colombian producer Ovy On The Drums, blending its Latin-influenced sound with the familiar energy of Afrobeats.

The result is a refreshing musical combination that gives the track a different texture while maintaining the rhythm and catchy hooks that appeal to contemporary African music audiences.

Its appeal also lies in its everyday storytelling.

“Looking like a very good day to have some fun, been a long week and you know say life tough,” Young Jonn sings, acknowledging the pressures that come with modern urban living.

The song also captures the social culture of young Nigerians, where a simple group-chat message can quickly turn into an evening outing.

With references to sharing updates and finding out who is available, Let It Go reflects the spontaneous friendships and social connections that shape nightlife and entertainment experiences.

For Desperados, the collaboration goes beyond music promotion. It represents an engagement with youth culture through entertainment, nightlife and shared experiences.

The track’s upbeat production and memorable chorus make it suitable for parties, house gatherings, concerts and other social occasions.

Its underlying message is not complicated: after the demands of everyday life, there should also be room for music, friendship and enjoyment.

As music continues to shape how young people connect and express themselves, Let It Go offers another example of how brand collaborations with artistes can translate shared cultural experiences into a musical experience.
