The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has honoured the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, with an Award of Excellent Performance for her contributions to strengthening pharmaceutical regulation, protecting public health and promoting industrial development.

The award was presented during NACCIMA’s Breakfast Roundtable Meeting at Providence Hotel, Lagos, where Adeyeye delivered a keynote address to members of the association, industry leaders and other stakeholders from the organised private sector.

The recognition highlights the importance of effective regulatory oversight in tackling counterfeit and substandard medicines, safeguarding consumers and creating an enabling environment for legitimate pharmaceutical and manufacturing businesses.

Speaking at the meeting, Adeyeye outlined regulatory reforms introduced under her leadership, reaffirming NAFDAC’s commitment to transparent, science-driven and business-friendly regulation.

She explained that the agency’s regulatory approach was designed to strike a balance between protecting public health and supporting industrial growth, ensuring that businesses operate within established standards while consumers have access to safe, quality and wholesome products.

The NAFDAC chief emphasised the importance of an effective regulatory system in building confidence in locally manufactured products, improving compliance and strengthening the country’s industrial base.

Industry leaders and participants at the roundtable commended her leadership, particularly her efforts to combat fake and substandard medicines and improve the regulatory environment for businesses.

They acknowledged that the fight against counterfeit products requires sustained collaboration between regulatory agencies, manufacturers, distributors, professional bodies and other stakeholders across the healthcare and industrial value chains.

According to NACCIMA, the award recognises Adeyeye’s outstanding performance, dedication and contributions to industrial development and the campaign against counterfeit and substandard products.

The presentation was greeted with applause from participants at the event.

NAFDAC, under Adeyeye’s leadership, has continued to pursue regulatory initiatives aimed at strengthening the oversight of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices and other regulated products.

The agency’s regulatory mandate remains central to protecting Nigerians from unsafe, ineffective and substandard products, while ensuring that legitimate manufacturers and businesses operate within a credible regulatory framework.

The recognition by NACCIMA reinforces the need for stronger partnerships between regulatory authorities and the organised private sector in addressing public health risks, promoting product quality, encouraging local manufacturing and advancing sustainable industrial development.

For Nigeria’s pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, effective regulation remains a critical pillar for improving access to quality medicines, strengthening consumer confidence and building a more resilient health system.
